The Skamatix at The Ideat Village June 12th

June 7th, 2010

We’ll be playing at the Ideat Village this Saturday, June 12th at 3pm – for free! Our friend Chris Critella put together a line-up of ALL instrumental bands for this year’s Village, and we’re proud to be part of it.

The Skamatix will be playing an ALL INSTRUMENTAL set – we’re pretty thrilled to be repping our jazz roots, playing tunes by Mingus, Hancock and Coltrane – as well as our own originals.

Here’s a link to:

There will be lots of other great bands on the bill, including sleazy free jazz Dog Hunch (featuring Nate’s buddies Enrico Merlin, all the way from Italy and Steve Assetta), and the New Haven Improvisers Collective, who will be previewing their new Mayhem Circus Electric disc.

(Incidentally, Nate will be playing with both of these groups because he has musical A.D.D.)

A Spam in the Hand

February 21st, 2010

So the bloggers among you might be aware of the scourge of comment spam – comments on your blog posts that try to get your readers to buy sketchy Viagra, download malware, and do who knows what else.

This blog has been the recipient of a particularly intense spamming campaign, and the new breed of spam tries to masquerade as an comment on the actual content of blog post. (”Great job! I was making a similar point to some ladies in a club as I was buying some AUTHENTIC LEGAL V1AGRA!!!!!!).

This morning I got a particularly great comment:

“I am very impressed with the article I have just read. I wish the writer of theskamatix.com can continue to provide so much worthwhile information and unforgettable experience to theskamatix.com readers. There is not much to say except the following universal truth: Every problem contains its own solution. Fundamental understanding of the problem alone can reveal it. I will be back.”

[highly sketchy links deleted]

I’ll take this as a compliment. Thanks, Forgotten Love Child of The Terminator and a Fortune Cookie!
